Squash Courts
Squash is an elegant game requiring skill, concentration and strategy played on four-walled courts. While this may appear as an exclusive pastime, its accessibility makes it great fun for all abilities and ages alike.
To protect court integrity and ensure its preservation, appropriate squash attire must be worn while on and near the courts and Fitness Center areas. Street shoes with black/dark soles or cut-off jeans are not permitted; for safety and preservation reasons. Ladder or personal matches cannot take place during Challenge Court sessions without approval by Club staff beforehand.
The A Best Enterprises tell tale is constructed of 20 gauge cold-roll steel and powder-coated with brilliant white for perfect match with glass wall hardware. It sits above the top red out-of-bounds line so players can see where they are striking the ball into the wall; its ceramic frit dots superimposed with white over black make for enhanced vision into the wall for players while offering contrast against bright white balls.
Traction
Squash is an exciting game requiring fast and agile movements from player to player. To ensure players don’t slip while moving quickly between points, the soles of their shoes need to be highly adhesive; some of the top squash shoes feature rubber tram-lines on their soles for added grip on court surface; these options typically range in price from $50-60 per shoe.
Although more expensive shoes offer excellent grip and ankle support, Adidas and Asics produce many top-of-the-line options that cater to squash players’ needs. While their shoes may be designed more for sports like volleyball or handball than squash specifically, their key characteristics still hold true for squash.
The primary distinction between squash shoes and those designed for volleyball lies in their purpose; volleyball shoes provide support for forward and upward movements while squash shoes must provide both forward and lateral support to meet the unique demands of squash play, which includes dashing towards and stopping to hit a ball – meaning volleyball shoes may not be appropriate to wear during game play. Therefore, when wearing squash shoes it would not be wise to wear volleyball ones!
When searching for new squash shoes, it is advisable to try as many pairs on as possible while wearing socks you would typically play in. Your feet swell during exercise so it is essential that your purchase includes shoes with proper foot sizing capabilities.
Ideal squash shoes should feature an EVA midsole for comfort and close fitting for foot stability, while their gum rubber outsole provides reliable traction on concrete, clay or grass surfaces. You can test a pair of squash shoes by pressing down on their heel and flexing from front to back; if one of the shoes caves in or you find moving too difficult they are no longer fit for purpose and should be replaced immediately.
