Its high-quality graphics and outstanding solo and multiplayer features distinguish it from its competitors, seamlessly merging technicality of tennis matches with quick, accessible fun. Furthermore, its avatar-building system boasts options including different facial features and physical builds similar to 2K’s Elder Scrolls series; unfortunately some shots may err more toward style over realism (the translucent motion blur following power shots being one such example of this) which may prove offputting to some users.
Due to Top Spin’s graphics excellence, it can be challenging to achieve the feeling of playing real tennis matches. Grand Slam may not have the zesty arcade fun of Virtua Tennis or Top Spin’s more controlled simulation-like approach, but it still stands as an impressive game in its own right. The Career mode takes you through 10 years of tournaments as you pursue a Grand Slam championship; along the way you may challenge one or more player legends for matches in order to learn their special abilities (for instance Rafael Nadal’s forehand topspin or Bjorn Borg’s fitness).
The gameplay in Tennis Revolution is highly engaging and immersive, boasting stunning visuals and easy controls. Facial buttons correspond to various flat shots while shoulder buttons allow for top spins, lobs and slices – plus players can add more power by holding down buttons until a power meter fills up!
