3. Uber Cup

The Uber Cup is the world’s premier women’s badminton team tournament. Established in 1956-57 after England’s pre-war star Betty Uber proposed it, the inaugural match featured United States and Denmark matches; Mappin & Webb designed its trophy: a swivelling globe mounted on a plinth.

At the 2022 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals, top teams from around the globe will battle it out for this prized trophy. India stands a good chance at making the quarter-finals with its roster comprising PV Sindhu (two Olympic medals), Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy, doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty along with 14-year old Unnati Hooda as potential competitors.
